& just like that I’m 28!!!

Can you believe it I’m 28!!! Birthdays have always been a big deal in my family and as a little girl, I remember my mom always making them so special for each one of us. It always started with being woken up too her singing “happy birthday” and a special breakfast waiting downstairs. Even today my mom sure knows how to make those around her feel beyond special. Its one thing that I have always loved, how special we make birthdays, and holidays in my family! It’s no wonder where the rest of us got that from.

So turning 28 I headed to Houston to visit my sister! & little did I know of all the surprises that would be in store for my 28th birthday!!!

After, arriving too my sister’s house I was greeted with a beautiful display she had set up; fresh flowers, a variety of cupcakes, and a beautifully wrapped birthday gift!

My flight got in late but of course, we didn’t want to miss a second of spending time together; after staying up till about 4-am, we finally got some sleep!! We started the next morning off with a workout ( in all honestly call us weird but all 3 of my sibling including myself really enjoy working out). We then headed to get mani; pedi’s @ Bebe’ Nail Salon off Edridge Parkway, seriously the ladies there were amazing; I was so relaxed!! I was then taken to sun shines a vegetarian deli; I had never really had vegan/ vegetarian based food before but let me tell you how amazing everything was there. (Thanks to my brother-in-law for taking us!)

I was surprised again, with a class @ Soul Cycle and ladies if you haven’t been, it is seriously a life changer! We spend the rest of the day shopping and ending the night @ North Italia (I mean we had worked off almost 600 calories so why not carbs!!!). The rest of the weekend was spent eating amazing food, being with best-friend and enjoying the beautiful 88-degree weather. Just like my mom; my sister had made sure that I had felt more than just special, on my birthday weekend and I did!

28 wasn’t turning out to be so awful after all!

But, the birthday celebration didn’t stop there after I arrived back home; the rest of the week was filled with so much love from those around me. Arriving back to work to a beautiful flower arrangement from my co-workers, trying out new restaurants for dinner with my husband. The week ended with one last dinner that my BFF Ali arranged (I honestly just thought it was the two of us going to dinner) We arrived at Doolittle’s; Ali had asked me to follow her ( I seriously had just thought she had seen someone we knew and wanted to say hi first) and when I did she lead me to a huge table full with my husband and some of my closest friends all yelling “surprise, Happy birthday”; I was in complete aw!!

The following weekend I was surprised again with tickets to a concert and spending the weekend at my moms house. I arrived to her house with probably the biggest bottle of wine I have ever seen, 28 beautiful pink roses, & 2 giant cupcakes. Leave it to my mom; there was also another surprise in the bedroom waiting for me: MORE WINE and the cutest little top that stated (But first presents).

Turning 28 has made me realize the significance of life, how fast it goes and what is important to me! I have been beyond blessed with my husband, my family, and friends. Getting older really isn’t that awful after all, I have learned so much about myself and the type of women I want to be. While turning 28 has shown me it’s not about the things; it’s about living life too its fullest.

So here’s to 28!!
